Richard E. Cripps is the Chief Investment Officer and Senior Portfolio Manager of EquityCompass Strategies, a research and investment advisory unit of Choice Financial Partners, a wholly owned subsidiary of Stifel Financial Corp. (SF-NYSE). Mr. Cripps joined Stifel Financial through the acquisition of Legg Mason’s Capital Markets Group from Citigroup in December 2005. Mr. Cripps directed the Portfolio Strategy Group of Stifel Nicolaus Equity Research prior to his current role, where he also served as a senior member of the investment committee with responsibilities for equity market analysis and portfolio strategy.
Mr. Cripps developed the EquityCompass, a series of equity models that quantify investment characteristics for stock selection and portfolio management. EquityCompass insights were utilized in a variety of programs at Legg Mason and currently are being offered at Stifel, Nicolaus & Company, Incorporated.
Mr. Cripps and his market commentary are familiar to investors viewing leading financial news networks. He appeared as a featured guest on Wall Street Week With Louis Rukeyser and other financial networks. He has also been a participant in economic forums organized by the White House to monitor the market impact of various economic policies on financial markets.
Mr. Cripps has a B.S. in finance from James Madison University and serves on the University’s School of Business Executive Advisory Committee. He is a CFA charterholder and member of the Baltimore Security Analysts Society.

Tim McCann is Vice President, Portfolio Management for EquityCompass Strategies, a research and investment advisory unit of Choice Financial Partners, a wholly owned subsidiary of Stifel Financial Corp. (SF-NYSE). Mr. McCann joined the Stifel Nicolaus Research Team when Stifel acquired Legg Mason’s Capital Markets Group in December of 2005. Originally working for two retail financial advisors, Mr. McCann’s responsibilities included the creation, back testing, and implementation of a quantitative rules-based discipline for the group’s asset management efforts. In 2002, Mr. McCann joined the Legg Mason equity research department as a quantitative analyst to aid in the development of the firm’s in-house quantitative models (EquityCompass) and rules-based strategies. Prior to Legg Mason, he worked in various positions at Morgan Stanley and UBS Securities (via PaineWebber). Mr. McCann has a B.S. in business from The College of Notre Dame of Maryland and is a Level I candidate in the CFA program.

Michael Scherer is Vice President, Portfolio Management for EquityCompass Strategies, a research and investment advisory unit of Choice Financial Partners, a wholly owned subsidiary of Stifel Financial Corp. (SF-NYSE). Mr. Scherer joined the Stifel Nicolaus Research Team when Stifel acquired Legg Mason’s Capital Markets Group in December of 2005. He was then an associate in the Equity Marketing and Strategy Group. Mr. Scherer previously worked as a supervisor in securities operations for Legg Mason. Concentrated in finance, he has an M.B.A. from Loyola College in Maryland and a B.A. from the College of William & Mary with a concentration in government. Mr. Scherer is a Level II candidate in the CFA program.

Kenya Overstreet is the Marketing and Publications Coordinator for EquityCompass Strategies, a research and investment advisory unit of Choice Financial Partners, a wholly owned subsidiary of Stifel Financial Corp. (SF-NYSE). Mrs. Overstreet joined the Stifel Nicolaus Research Team when Stifel acquired Legg Mason’s Capital Markets Group in December of 2005. Her duties include broker client service, preparation of electronic and print communications and presentations, and technical and sales support. She joined Legg Mason in 1989 in the equity marketing department and has remained a central staff member to the groups that Richard Cripps headed as chief market strategist at Legg Mason and, more recently, the EquityCompass Strategies Group at Stifel Nicolaus. Mrs. Overstreet attended the Maryland Institute College of Art from 1987 to 1991.
